Adult Charter Registration Guidelines
Approved: March 29, 2005

Registered adult leaders normally elect to pay their annual registration fees at recharter time but Troop 480 recognizes these individuals volunteer their time and often money toward the needs of the troop and will pay this fee for any active adults if requested.  The current fees are listed below:

Annual Registration Fee      $10.00
Insurance Fee
  1.00
Total                                  $11.00

The troop will pay this fee for any adult if they meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a troop position of responsibility
  • Have been active with the troop committee meetings
  • Have been active with troop meetings
  • Have been active with troop activities

Registered adults who do not meet these criteria must pay the fee to remain on the troop charter.

The Scoutmaster and Committee Chairperson will prepare the list of those registered adults which do not meet the above criteria and the Committee Chairperson will present this list at the December committee meeting each year for the committee’s agreement and approval, followed by notification to these individuals to see if they want to remain on the charter.

Special circumstances may be approved with the agreement of the Scoutmaster and Committee Chairperson on behalf of the committee.

Troop Leadership

Troop Leadership consists of two portions, the troop committee led by the Chairperson and the program, lead by the Scoutmaster.  Roles and responsibilities of these positions are defined in the Troop Position document.  The troop committee is defined in two segments, Administrative and Program.  Administrative positions are those related to the operation of the troop as a whole,  Program positions are those positions related closely to the program portion of the troop.

This structure also links adults in certain positions to scouts in related leadership positions.  Click here to view the troop leadership.

Note from the Scoutmaster

In 2003, I had the privilege of taking the BSA Woodbadge course.  One of the items I left with as part of my ticket was the creation of a troop specific Scoutmaster handbook.  The purpose of this handbook is to capture documentation, processes and procedures specific to Troop 480, but based on the format of the BSA Scoutmaster Handbook.  My intended audience of this information is troop leaders, scouts, committee members, and parents.   This should be a living document, and used to enhance and enable the Troop 480 program going forward into the future, for the sake of our scouts, present and future.  Enjoy!
